Human Imprint Notes: I have my students complete this assignment to apply their understanding of the different types of diffusion to real world scenarios that they choose. By the end of the year, I am always a bit amazed that they are able to recall what their little drawing was for each type of diffusion. And don’t let the non-artists complain their way out of this one. Stick figures are totally encouraged (that is the purpose of a caption).
Time: 50 Minutes
Purpose: Students will learn the differed types of cultural diffusion and practice them by creating illustrated examples on a worksheet.
Lecture: Provide the differences between the four different types of diffusion and provide examples. Hierarchic, Contagious, Stimulus, and Relocation diffusions.
Worksheet: Pass out the cultural diffusion worksheet and read it together, have the students work on it during the remainder of class and walk around the room to make sure that students are understanding the concept by using correct examples.
